Public appointment: members reappointed to Orkney NHS Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Humza Yousaf MSP today announced the reappointments of David Campbell and Isobel Grieve as Members of Orkney NHS Board.

Members

David Campbell joined Orkney NHS Board in June 2018 and brings strong practical experience in private and third sector accountancy, finance accountability, governance, audit and risk and project management

He has extensive business experience at local and national level across the private sector spanning over 20 years; he sits on numerous third sector and non for profit boards as a business, funding, development and project advisor.

David is the Chair of the Finance and Performance Committee and the Endowment Fund Sub Committee within the Board. He is also is a member of the Integration Joint Board for Orkney.

Isobel Grieve joined Orkney NHS Board in July 2018, following her retirement as Orkney College UHI Assistant Principle. Isobel stepped down from the role as Chair of Birsay Heritage trust earlier this year, but remains an active Trustee. She is also a Trustee of the charitable arm of the Kristin Linklater Voice Centre.

Isobel’s experience in public organisations, devising quality systems, chairing meetings, collegiate working and being connected to the wider Orkney community, provides her with a skill set, to assist the Board of NHS Orkney to progress the changes that are required to move forward from its current position.

Reappointment

The reappointments will be for four years. David Campbell will run from 4th June 2022 to 3rd June 2026 and Isobel Grieve will run from 1st July 2022 to 30th June 2026.

The reappointments are regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

The reappointments are part-time and attract a remuneration of £8,095 per annum for a time commitment of one day per week.

Other ministerial appointments

David Campbell and Isobel Grieve do not hold any other public appointments.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.

David Campbell and Isobel Grieve have had no political activity within the last five years.

Background

NHS Orkney is the smallest territorial health Board in Scotland and is responsible for the health care of the population of Orkney, which is made up of approximately 21,500 people. They employ around 620 staff and provide a comprehensive range of primary, community-based and acute hospital services.
