These figures provide the estimated number of dwellings in Scotland by tenure. They are updated each year using information from Housing Statistics Annual Returns, stock figures from the Scottish Housing Regulator, and Scottish Household Survey data.

 

The excel file includes 2 tables:

  • Estimated stock of dwellings by tenure - time series from 1993 to 2022, at a Scotland level. Please note the change in methodology from 2001, which is explained in the notes in the downloadable excel file.
  • Estimated stock of dwellings by tenure and local authority, for the years 2013 to 2022.

  1. The stock by tenure local authority tables for 2013 and 2014 have been updated as there was a misalignment with names of Local Authority and corresponding figures. This has now been corrected and republished.

  2. Updated to include a longer time series for local authority level figures going back to 2013, after they were mistakenly left off the previous release

  3. Update with the latest figures up to 2022

  4. Updated to include a longer time series for local authority level figures going back to 2013, using information from previously published annual tables
