Information requested
How much is the COVID 100% rates relief to aviation industry costing for (a) for each of the Scottish Airports, and (b) for other aviation related industries?
Response
The Scottish Government sets the legislative framework for non-domestic rates and it is for councils to interpret and administer the system in accordance with that framework. The Scottish Government does not currently hold data on the level of relief awarded to airports or other aviation related industries and the final cost of the relief will therefore not be known until after the close of the 2020-21 Financial Year. However, in estimating the potential cost of the relief ahead of introduction we assumed:
Airport | |
Aberdeen Airport | could receive relief up to £1,960,800. |
Edinburgh Airport | could receive relief up to £6,852,480. |
Glasgow Airport | could receive relief up to £6,037,200. |
Prestwick Airport | could receive relief up to £774,000. |
Inverness Airport | could receive relief up to £619,200. |
Dundee Airport | could receive relief up to £83,592. |
Stornoway Airport | could receive relief up to £136,740. |
Benbecula Airport | could receive relief up to £53,664. |
Barra Airport | could receive relief up to £11,440. |
Wick Airport | could receive relief up to £41,280. |
Kirkwall Airport | could receive relief up to £186,792. |
Campbeltown Airport | could receive relief up to £50,052. |
Islay Airport | could receive relief up to £45,666. |
Tiree Airport | could receive relief up to £35,088. |
Sumburgh Airport | could receive relief up to £309,600. |

b) The relief for other aviation related industries was estimated to be up to £1,562,009.
