Scotland's Devolved Employment Services: Statistical Summary May 2024

Official statistics in development on the No One Left Behind strategic approach to employability delivery, reporting on those receiving support from April 2019 to December 2023 and official statistics for Fair Start Scotland (FSS) from April 2018 to December 2023.


Main Points

This report presents statistics for Scotland’s Devolved Employment Services including No One Left Behind and Fair Start Scotland. Statistics are presented to the most recent quarter of October to December 2023.

 

  • There have been 120,915 starts on either No One Left Behind or Fair Start Scotland (FSS) since April 2018 up to December 2023. In the most recent quarter, October to December 2023, there were 7,114 starts. This was an 11% decrease on the previous quarter and a 1% decrease on the same quarter in the previous year.

 

  • Official statistics in development for No One Left Behind show a total of 54,475 people started receiving support from April 2019 to December 2023. The number of people starting to receive support has increased each year from 2,677 in year 1 (2019/20) to 18,226 in year 4 (2022/23).

 

  • In the most recent quarter, quarter 3 of year 5, 4,439 people started to receive support through No One Left Behind. This was an 11% decrease on the previous quarter but a 5% increase on the same quarter in the previous year.

 

  • Of the 54,475 people receiving support on No One Left Behind, 17,242 (32%) have entered employment, while a further 7,934 (15%) entered further or higher education or training.

 

  • There have been 66,440 starts to FSS since April 2018, including 6,134 re-joins which has been possible since April 2021. There were 2,675 starts in the most recent quarter, 11% lower than the previous quarter and 9% lower than the same quarter in 2022.

 

  • For FSS, there were 1,104 job starts this quarter, 16% lower than the previous quarter and 4% lower than the same quarter in 2022. Overall, there has been 23,824 job starts since FSS launched.
