Exchequer Strategy Directorate

The Exchequer Strategy Directorate helps the Director-General Scottish Exchequer achieve its purpose of supporting Government to deliver its priorities in a fiscally sustainable way.

We are responsible for:

• progressing the Government's overall strategy and policy to be more fiscally sustainable and more transparent about the public finances
• leading, delivering and coordinating fiscal events (Medium Term Financial Strategy and Scottish Budget)
• managing the fiscal framework and delivering fiscal policy projects e.g fiscal transparency and constitutional futures
• setting the overall macro fiscal strategy across funding and spending and managing aggregate risk

We are also responsible for the relationships with the Scottish Fiscal Commission and inter-Governmental relations within the UK nations.  The Directorate hosts the analytical capability for the Exchequer working closely with OCEA to contribute robust analytical support to the DG's policy and delivery priorities.

The Directorate also supports the operation, performance management and continuous improvement of an efficient and effective Scottish Exchequer.
