People, Appointments and Governance

What we do

We support the Chief People Officer and the Chief Executive of the NHS in Scotland and Director General for Health and Social Care to carry out their functions, with our people at the core of all we do.

We do this by:

supporting chair and non-executive appointments to NHS Boards, with particular focus on improving diversity, as well as supporting the Chief Executive of NHS Scotland and the Chief People Officer in the recruitment and induction of board level executive directors within the NHS
providing policy advice on Health Board members and health public appointments, with a focus on improving diversity
providing policy advice on NHS Board Governance and Accountability
providing policy advice on Health Board reform and underpinning legislation
providing secretariat support for NHS board chairs and chief executive business meetings
providing corporate governance advice for the health and social care directorates
providing secretariat support for the Health and Social Care Management Board (HSCMB) and Assurance Board (HSCAB) meetings
providing secretariat support for, and being active members of, the HSC People and Capability Group (PCG)
supporting Health and Social Care Management Board Development and development of DD Plus Network
providing high level engagement with military and veterans groups on employment opportunities
co-ordinating the LINK (Learn, Improve, Network and Know) programme for DG Health and Social Care
