Child and family mental health: Joint Strategic Board

Overview

The new Joint Strategic Board for Child and Family Mental Health (JSB), co-chaired by COSLA and the Scottish Government, was created in November 2023 to advise and support progress towards the Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy vision across children and family policy.

It will bring together the work of the previous Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Programme Board (PNIMH-PB) and Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Joint Delivery Board (JDB), recognising the ongoing need to support infants, children, young people and families with their mental health and wellbeing.

The board will have a strategic overview of mental health work spanning preconception, the perinatal period, parent-infant relationships, early years (up to five), children and young people (5-24 year olds or 26 years for care leavers), their families and carers. There will be a particular focus on addressing crisis, prevention, support for early years and children and families in vulnerable situations.
