Gypsy/Travellers Action Plan: Ministerial Oversight Group
Overview
This group was formed in May 2024 to support the development of an action plan to improve the lives of Scotland's Gypsy/Traveller communities.
It also provides a scrutiny function to ensure delivery of actions across relevant portfolio areas.
Members will:
- ensure that the government is working to improve the lives of Gypsy/Traveller communities, including in areas that may not fall within the scope of the action plan
- update the group on key opportunities and challenges within their portfolio areas that fall within the scope of the action plan
- listen to and respond to feedback from communities and stakeholders
Members
The group is co-chaired by the Minister for Equalities and COSLA’s Spokesperson for Community Wellbeing.
It also consists of ministers who hold responsibility for areas which fall within the scope of the action plan:
- Minister for Housing
- Minister for Public Finance
- Minister for Public Health and Women’s Health
- Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport
- Minister for Children, Young People and The Promise
Stakeholders
The Minister for Equalities and COSLA’s Spokesperson for Community Wellbeing may nominate other elected representatives to join meetings of the group on an ad-hoc basis whenever they deem that appropriate. External stakeholders and community members may also be invited to join meetings.
