Local Electricity Network Coordination Group
Overview
The Local Electricity Network Coordination Group (LENCG) was established in June 2023. Its purpose is to identify and address issues that can frustrate or prevent the connection of low carbon technologies, such as heat pumps or electric vehicle (EV) chargers, to local electricity networks.
The group is made up of representatives from the Scottish Government, the Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), and the heat and transport sectors.
The group meets four to six times a year. It provides a place for:
- engagement and transparency
- effective collaboration
- the development of robust evidence on the need for investment
- the development of solutions to potential barriers to net zero
