Independent Oversight and Assurance Group on Tayside's Mental Health Services

Overview

The Independent Oversight and Assurance Group on Tayside’s Mental Health Services was established by the Minister for Mental Wellbeing and Social Care in October 2021 to provide advice and support to the Tayside Executive Partnership as they lead the change that is required for Tayside’s mental health services.

The Group will play a critical role in providing independent assurance of the progress made by the Tayside Executive Partnership in their implementation of the recommendations from ‘Trust and Respect’ - the report (published in February 2020) from Dr David Strang’s independent inquiry into Tayside’s mental health services.

The Group will regularly update the Minister for Mental Wellbeing and Social Care on progress so the Scottish Government are able to accurately assess the improvements being made to Tayside’s mental health services.

The Group are also forming important relationships with key local stakeholders and lived experience organisations to ensure that real and sustained progress is made in Tayside.
