Building for the future

Infrastructure projects worth almost £6.4 billion will be under construction throughout Scotland in 2017.

Projects such as the Forth Valley College Falkirk Campus, NHS Orkney’s New Hospital and Healthcare Facilities and the A737 Dalry Bypass will all commence construction this year.

In addition, major schemes such as the Queensferry Crossing, the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project and NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s Acute Services Redevelopment Project are all set to become operational this year, delivering the benefits associated with them for the people of Scotland for years to come.

Commenting on the publication of the Scottish Government’s Infrastructure Investment Plan progress report while visiting the construction site of the £14.6 million Inverurie health care hub, Economy Secretary Keith Brown said:

“Significant progress continues to be made in delivering our infrastructure investment plan, which is good for jobs, good for the economy, and good for Scotland.

“I am delighted that projects totalling almost £800 million were completed last year, and that this year we are anticipating a further £2.8 billion worth of infrastructure projects being completed and becoming operational including the Queensferry Crossing.

“I look forward to seeing these projects come to completion, but also seeing Scottish companies continuing to benefit from this government’s record levels of infrastructure investment in the years to come.”
