NHS pay award for medical and dental staff
Health Secretary announces a pay award of 2.8% backdated to 1 April 2020.
Announcing a pay award of 2.8% backdated to 1 April 2020 for NHS Scotland medical and dental staff, general medical practitioners and general dental practitioners, Health Secretary Jeane Freeman said:
“The continued hard work and dedication of staff makes our NHS the treasured institution it is, and ensures that the people of Scotland continue to receive world class healthcare. This uplift demonstrates that we fully value all our medical and dental staff and the important contribution they make.
“It’s crucial that we continue to not only recruit and build our future NHS workforce, but also retain expertise within NHS Scotland. This announcement means that our senior medical staff will continue to be the best paid in the UK. This will help to ensure that NHS Scotland remains an attractive employment option for medical and dental staff.”
Background
- The 2.8% pay uplift is to be included in September 2020 salaries for NHS medical and dental staff with backdated payments to 1 April 2020 to follow as soon as practical
- High earning salaried medical and dental staff who earn £80,000 and above will receive the same percentage increase in pay for 2020/21
