UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities
A Fairer Scotland for Disabled People (December 2016) was our delivery plan for the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) It covers the period 2016 to 2021 and aimed to make equality of opportunity, access to services and independent living a reality for all disabled people in Scotland. An easy read summary of the report is available.
We published a progress report in March 2021 outlining key progress against each of the actions in the Action Plan. An easy read summary of this report is also available.
Since the publication of this report both Child Disability Payment and Adult Disability Payment have been launched and we have committed to incorporating the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons, as far as possible within devolved competence with disabilities into Scots Law.
We are working with Disabled People’s organisations and their members to develop a new Disability Equality Strategy that will build on ‘A Fairer Scotland for Disabled People’.
