A fairer and more equal society
A fair and equal society and a wealthier, greener economy are strongly connected.
Economies that have stronger productivity growth also have higher wellbeing.
Over the next ten years to 2032 Scotland can build a successful economic model that ensures that work pays for everyone through better wages and fair work.
The National Strategy for Economic Transformation moves our economy towards wellbeing and fair work, delivering higher rates of employment and wage growth.
It aims to significantly reduce poverty, particularly child poverty, and improve health, cultural and social outcomes for families and communities.
Our programme of action includes:
- tackling poverty through fairer pay and conditions by ensuring that work provides a sustainable standard of living and a genuine route out of poverty by introducing higher working standards and improving pay
- eradicating structural barriers to participating in the labour market
