Accessing data and statistics

Information on how to access statistics and data produced by the Scottish government.

The Scottish Government wants to make it easy to access the statistics and data we  produce.

The Code of Practice for Statistics requires us to ensure that official statistics are readily accessible to all users. For example, we are committed to making statistics available in as much detail as is reliable and practicable, subject to legal and confidentiality constraints, offering choice and flexibility in the format according to the level of detail required.

Find out more about how to request our data.

We make available a range of official statistics about Scotland on statistics.gov.scot website, our open data platform. This allows you to make use of the data provided. It allows you to explore statistics about our population, health, employment, crime and more for Scotland and it's local areas. The data can be viewed as tables, maps and charts or downloaded in various formats.

The Scottish Government provides a 12 month calendar of its forthcoming publications. This includes releases produced by closely related bodies such as: Public Health Scotland and National Records of Scotland, as well as Crown and arms-length organisations.
