Adoption - vision statement: priorities and plan - summary version
Summary version of our adoption vision statement. It explains why support for everyone involved in adoption is important, and how we plan to make this better.
7. So, what’s next?
- A very important part of next steps is talking to people with experience of adoption. This includes children, young people and adults, as well as people who provide support such as social workers and health workers.
- Here are some of the actions we will take to support our adoption community in Scotland.
1) Talking about how important adoption is and raising awareness of the different kinds of support needed for everyone involved.
2) Continuing to fund the annual national Adoption Week, which celebrates adoption and helps our adoption community to access information and support.
3) Developing our Scottish Government website so that it is clear and up to date and easy for families to find information about adoption.
4) Funding Scotland’s Adoption Register to support family finding.
5) Funding guidance for social workers to help adopted children and families maintain important relationships.
6) Funding charities to provide different kinds of help and support to adoptive families and adult adoptees.
