The Scottish Ministers for the Scottish Government, acting as the Competent Authority for Scotland in respect of the following EU Regulations:
- Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009* of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2009 laying down health rules as regards animal byproducts and derived products not intended for human consumption and repealing Regulation (EC) No 1774/2002
- Commission Regulation (EU) No 142/2011* of 25 February 2011 implementing Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council
Authorisation to feed category 3 material and certain category 2 material to circus animals
In accordance with Articles 16(c) and 18(1)(b) of Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009 the Scottish Ministers authorise by way of derogation from Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009 the feeding to circus animals of category 2 material, provided it comes from animals which were not killed or did not die as a result of the presence or suspected presence of a disease communicable to humans or animals, and of category 3 material, provided that the requirements of Section 1, Chapter II, Annex VIII of Commission Regulation (EU) No 142/2011 are complied with to ensure the control of risks to public and animal health.
This authorisation applies in Scotland.
