Sheep and cattle numbers across Scotland in December 2023
The Cattle Tracing System provides cattle numbers in Scotland to the Agricultural Census team as of the 1st of December. The tables published presents a breakdown of these figures.
November 2024: updated to include accompanying spreadsheet on numbers of sheep and goats as of 1 December 2023 from identified keepers across Scotland. The methodology for the December 2023 sheep estimates can be accessed on the Defra website.
The Annual Sheep and Goat Inventory collects numbers of sheep and goats as of 1st December from all identified keepers across Scotland
