Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed on 22 November 2023.
Confirmation of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)
Highly pathogenic avian influenza was confirmed at a premises near Finstown, Orkney (AIV 2023/56) 22 November 2023.
A Protection Zone and Surveillance Zone were declared. An end to these disease control zones was declared on 27 December 2023, following completion of cleansing, disinfection and mandatory surveillance requirements.
This means all restrictions within this area have been lifted.
