Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed on 10 January 2025.
Confirmation of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)
Highly pathogenic avian influenza was confirmed at a premises near Kirriemuir, Angus (AIV 2025/01) 10 January 2025.
A 3 km Protection Zone (PZ) and 10 km Surveillance Zone (SZ) were declared.
An end to the Protection Zone was declared on 3 February 2025.
The area that formed the Protection Zone has now become part of the Surveillance Zone, which remains in place.
A Surveillance Zone means movement restrictions – for example, poultry, carcases, eggs, used poultry litter and manure – to prevent any further spread of disease.
