Climate Change

In Wave 111 the BICS asked businesses whether they have taken any actions to reduce the business’s carbon emissions.

Figure 3: In Wave 111, 73.5% of businesses reported that they had taken action to reduce carbon emissions. Switching to LED bulbs (48.6%) and adjusting heating and cooling systems (44.6%) were the actions most frequently reported by businesses.

In Wave 111, the BICS asked businesses whether they are concerned about the impact of climate change on their business. Overall, an estimated 47.8% of businesses were very concerned or somewhat concerned about the impact climate change may have on the business, rising to 61.8% of businesses in the Construction sector.  Overall, 34.9% of businesses reported that they were not concerned about the impact of climate change on their businesses, and the rest (17.3%) were unsure.
