Climate Change

In the period 16 September to 29 September 2024 (Wave 117), the BICS asked businesses whether they have taken any actions to reduce the business’s carbon emissions.

Figure 1: In Wave 117, 72.5% of businesses reported that they had taken action to reduce carbon emissions. Switching to LED bulbs (49.6%) and adjusting heating and cooling systems (44.1%) were the actions most frequently reported by businesses.

In Wave 117, the BICS asked businesses whether they are concerned about the impact of climate change on their business. Overall, an estimated 46.2% of businesses were very concerned or somewhat concerned about the impact climate change may have on the business, rising to 57.6% of businesses in the Transport & Storage sector.  Overall, 38.6% of businesses reported that they were not concerned about the impact of climate change on their businesses, and the rest (15.3%) were unsure.
