Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland estimates containing data to wave 125
Latest main findings for businesses with 10+ employees and a presence in Scotland
- in the last 12 months, 18.7% of trading businesses had exported goods, services or both; and 25.8% of trading businesses had imported goods and/or services
- of businesses currently trading that have exported in the last 12 months, 19.9% reported exporting more in December 2024 compared to December 2023, and 27.3% reported exporting less
- of businesses currently trading that have imported in the last 12 months, 16.5% reported importing more in December 2024 compared to December 2023, and 11.9% reported importing less
- an estimated 36.9% of exporters reported that the cost of exporting increased in December 2024 compared with December 2023; a similar share of importers (38.5%) reported that the cost of importing increased over this period
Note that the next BICS Scotland publication, with data to Wave 126, is scheduled for release on Thursday 27 February 2025.
