Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland estimates containing data to wave 89.
Recruitment
In Wave 89, businesses not permanently stopped trading were asked if they had experienced any difficulties recruiting employees in July 2023.
Figure 1: Difficulties in recruiting employees had been experienced by an estimated 41.6% of applicable businesses. The highest rates of recruitment difficulties were reported by businesses in the Construction (46.6%) and Accommodation & Food Services (46.3%) industry sectors.
