Composition of cereal production in 2023

Barley accounts for 63% of total cereals produced in Scotland in 2023. Most barley in Scotland is spring barley. Spring barley makes up around 52% of total cereal production. Around 11% of total cereals is winter barley.

Wheat is the second most widespread crop, making up around 32% of total cereal production.

Oats contribute around 5% to total cereals produced.
