Increases in spring barley following decreases in winter

Spring barley

In 2024, spring barley yield is 6.5 tonnes per hectare, around average for the last 5 years.

Total spring barley production is 1.66 million tonnes and above the 5-year average. Production increased 5% compared to 2023, as area and yield increased.

Winter barley

In 2024, winter barley yield is 7.6 tonnes per hectare, around average for the last 5 years.

Total winter barley production is around 0.33 million tonnes. This is just below the 5-year average and a decrease of 6% compared to 2023, driven by a decrease in area.
