Cereal and oilseed rape harvest - first estimates: 2024
Initial estimates of area, yield and production for winter and spring barley, wheat, oats and oilseed rape, for the 2024 harvest.
Oat production and yield expected to increase
Oat production is predicted to be around 191 thousand tonnes, an increase of 21% in production from 2023. Oat production is predicted to be greater than the 10 year average.
A 14% increase in oats yield and 6% increase in sown area are driving the increase in production.
Oat estimates are not as reliable as those of other crops due to the limited data available at this early stage.
