Changing the International Territorial Level Geography for Scotland: Island Communities Impact Assessment

The Office of the Chief Statistician in Scottish Government ran a 3-month consultation on these proposals, which closed on 1 October 2024. All local authorities in Scotland were invited to respond to the consultation. In addition, we held conversations from representatives of local authorities particularly impacted by the proposals.

In addition, the Office of the Chief Statistician consulted with internal stakeholders, including the Island Policy team, to gain a better understanding of how ITL geographies are currently used.

The responses to this consultation have been used to inform this Island Communities Impact Assessment.
