1. Humanist figures only refer to sheriff courts whose data collection now has a separate Humanist category.
If there were Humanist divorces granted in the Court of Session, they would be recorded under 'Civil'.
2. This includes a very small number of irregular marriages. Irregular marriages which took place in Scotland before
May 2006 can be made legal when established by a decree of declarator are rare, accounting for just 0.03 per cent of all civil and irregular marriages that took place over the last 50 years.
