Cladding Remediation Programme: progress bulletins
Regular progress updates on the work of the Cladding Remediation Programme.
November 2024
Taking forward Single Building Assessments
-
we are progressing Single Building Assessments (SBAs) for 13 ‘entries' in the Pilot (an entry can be more than one building covered by one SBA)
-
we have written to homeowners and residents whose buildings are within these initial 13 entries that require an SBA
-
we have received the first SBA report for one of the 13 entries, and will inform homeowners and residents of further progress
-
some of the buildings in the pilot programme have been taken on by their developers. They will now progress with an SBA in line with the recent legislation.
-
if you are living in social housing and have any concerns about the cladding on your building, please contact your landlord in the first instance.
-
if you are the homeowner or resident of a building with known cladding issues and have any concerns, please contact CladdingRemediationProgramme@gov.scot
Commencement of Cladding legislation
-
commencement of the new Cladding legislation is planned for early 2025
-
a Cladding Assurance Register will be established. This will contain information on Single Building Assessments (SBAs) undertaken and record any required remediation works on the cladding system.
-
SBAs will assess risks from cladding or exacerbated by cladding in buildings in the scope of the Act
-
Ministers have new powers which will help when arranging an SBA
-
Ministers also have new powers to help with arranging remediation work that has been identified in a SBA as being required
Grenfell Report response
-
we are working to consider and respond to the Grenfell Inquiry Phase 2 Report and recommendations which was published in September 2024
-
a Ministerial Working Group, made up of a wide range of external stakeholders, is supporting the development of the response
-
we are working to ensure that the impact on and learning from cladding remediation is considered in the development of the response
