Contribution to international development: report 2021 to 2023
Report taking a holistic look at a wide cross-section of our international development activity and presents it within the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Conclusions and Reflections
Since 2005, the Scottish Government’s contribution to International Development has been characterised by recognising our moral responsibilities and building partnerships, with governments, civil society, academia and the private sector.
As we enter a new phase of ambition under the auspices of the recently-launched International Strategy, we intend to build on that track record of success to take an eve more ambitious and inclusive approach to partnerships, in line with our International Development Principles, and to support our partner countries to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those relating to health, inclusive education, gender equality and climate.
[Scottish Government funding] “has made huge differences in the people and their livelihoods because they are being given a hand up[…]. What Scotland is already doing is what everybody else needs to be doing.”[3] - President Chakwera of Malawi
