Correspondence between staff in Education Scotland regarding the reform of the SQA and Education Scotland: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

Information regarding the recently published report by Professor Ken Muir into the reform of the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and Education Scotland, in particular:

  • all communication between staff in Education Scotland and ministers and/or special advisers and/or PR/comms staff relating to the announcement, running and conclusions of the Muir Review from 2 August 2021 to 13 June 2022.

Response

Please see Annex A attached which provides a copy of all internal communications regarding the announcement, running and conclusions of the Muir Review which cover the related period stated above. Some names have not been shown as the names of members of staff below Senior Civil Servant are not included in responses to Freedom of Information requests.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information requested because an exemption under section 38(1)(b), personal information of FOISA applies to some of the information requested. The reason why this exemption applies is explained in Annex B.
