Correspondence regarding emergency authorisation of the chemical Asulox: EIR release

Information request and response under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004.

Information requested

I am looking for copies of all the correspondence between the Scottish Minister Lorna Slater (and her Ministerial staff) and the Health and Safety Executive regarding the emergency authorisation of the chemical Asulox. The chemical is used in the control of bracken in the hills of Scotland. Within the last four months.

Response

I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exception under regulation 10(5)(d) Confidentiality of proceedings of the EIRs applies to that information. The reasons why that exception applies is explained in the Annex to this letter.
