Cost of Chief Officers 2020-2022: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

  1. Could you provide a list of all Chief Officers in Scotland over the last two years, i.e. national clinical director, chief medical officer, chief vet, permanent secretary, chief nurse?
  2. All salaries for all those positions?
  3. How much has been paid out in total to those Chief Officers in 2020, 2021, 2022? Breakdown of these costs?
  4. How much has been budgeted for this in 2023/24?

Response

For the purpose of our response to your information request we have interpreted the scope of your questions to be in relation to all Senior Civil Service (SCS) members with the word “chief” in their job title, whilst also including the national clinical director, chief medical officer, chief vet, permanent secretary, and chief nurse.

My answers will be based on information relating to the Scottish Government Main bargaining unit only. I have noted my answers to each of your questions in Annex A and you can find information on which bodies are included within Scottish Government Main in Annex B.
