Analysis of data collected on the operation of the Scottish Milk and Healthy Snack Scheme and local authority school milk schemes to support the new Scottish School Milk Subsidy Scheme.

10 The ELC Census figures above show the share of the total number of children in Scotland registered for funded early learning and childcare in each Local Authority. The SMHSS shows the share of settings that responded to the SMHSS data collection in each Local Authority. The ELC census only collects information on settings and registrations for funded ELC, while the SMHSS is available to children in ELC settings regardless of whether they are eligible for funded ELC. The ELC census data collection occurs in September each year, so does not reflect registrations from children who become eligible for funded ELC later in the year.
