Democracy Matters Phase 2: analysis of responses - easy read

An easy read version of an analysis report of responses to the second phase of the Democracy Matters engagement process, which ran from August 2023 until February 2024. During this time, communities from across Scotland came together to consider how decision-making should look.

Powers

Most people said they want more say in community decision making. Thay want to be able to decide how money is spent and how resources are used.

Some said communities’ decision making power should be limited at first. It can increase when communities are able to do more.

People said communities should have more say about transport and environment services. Some said communities could run local transport, repair roads, and maintain green spaces.

Some people were worried that responsibilities could be passed to communities without enough funding or resources.
