Democracy Matters Phase 2: analysis of responses - easy read

An easy read version of an analysis report of responses to the second phase of the Democracy Matters engagement process, which ran from August 2023 until February 2024. During this time, communities from across Scotland came together to consider how decision-making should look.

Representation

Lots of people said the whole community should be involved. There should be an effort to include people from minority groups.

People also said other community organisations should be part of new decision making groups, like Community Councils, faith groups and parent teacher associations.

There was no clear agreement on the best way to choose who should be included on groups.

Most people said those serving their community should be responsible. They should be part of the community and listen to the views and needs of community members.
