Welcome, introductions and apologies observed
The Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Data strategy content update
RA provided an overview of the Data Strategy content.
The group noted:
- the initial themes that are being used to structure the Data Strategy
- the policy team are working collaboratively with colleagues to establish commitments for the Strategy and discuss programmes of work that are already underway that will support the commitments
- the policy team will begin to commission out parts of the Strategy writing to relevant subject matter expertsAll contributions will be reviewed and edited by the policy lead to ensure a consistent writing style is maintained throughout the Strategy
Next steps:
- RA/GW to issue a commissioning template for each of the relevant themes that require SME input to writing the Strategy
Commitments workshop
RA requested that working group members hold workshops with their teams/stakeholders to identify commitments for the Data StrategyMembers were asked to tailor their workshops to their specific area of expertise.
The group noted:
- suggestions for the different that working group members could take forward commitment workshops with their teams/stakeholders
- outputs from the workshops will be analysed and used to develop content for the StrategyThe analysis will be presented to the working group to discuss areas of commonality and areas of difference to understand the rational
- now that Carol Sinclair is the chair of the Data Board we need to find a representative from Public Health Scotland (PHS) to join the Working Group
Next steps:
- working group members to arrange sessions within their teams and send outputs to RA
- RA to identify representative from to join the working group
Data strategy consultation update
RA provided an update on the Data Strategy consultation.
The group noted:
- there are currently 78 responses of which 41 are organisation responses
- the contract for the analysis of the consultation responses commences on Monday 12 August 2022
Communication and engagement plan update
MS provided an update on the communication and engagement plan.
The group noted:
- various social media channels have been utilised to promote awareness of the consultation and encourage people to submit a response
- the policy team are now mapping out plans for the next phase of engagement for the Data Strategy
- a review of the timescales for publishing the Strategy has been undertakenThe Strategy is now expected to be published early in 2023
- the governance route for publishing the Data Strategy
The group agreed:
- the new timeline for publishing the Data Strategy

- RA and CB to discuss and agree content for providing Data Board with an update on the Data Strategy
