Scottish Government (2023). Disability Assistance (Miscellaneous Amendment) (Scotland) Regulations 2023: Child Rights and Wellbeing Impact Assessment. Accessed on 3 April 2024.
Disability benefits will be raised annually by at least the rate of inflation.
Individuals who transferred from DLAC at, for example, the age of 5 will not have a different experience from the main group.
Scottish Government (2023). Disability Assistance (Miscellaneous Amendment) (Scotland) Regulations 2023: Child Rights and Wellbeing Impact Assessment. Accessed on 3 April 2024.
This change took effect from 20 November 2023 when amendments to sets of principal Regulations for CDP and ADP came into force.
The purpose of the Research Advisory Group (RAG) was to provide support with regards to achieving the aims and objectives of the evaluation. Membership of the Group consisted of representatives from relevant analytical, programme, operational and policy areas in Scottish Government and Social Security Scotland.
Scottish Government (2023). Disability Assistance (Miscellaneous Amendment) (Scotland) Regulations 2023: Child Rights and Wellbeing Impact Assessment. Accessed on 3 April 2024.
The SIMD is the Scottish Government's standard approach to identify areas of multiple deprivation in Scotland. The SIMD ranks data zones from most deprived (ranked 1) to least deprived (ranked 6,976). These ranks have been divided into five bands for the purposes of data analysis, ranking from 1 (most deprived) to 5 (least deprived). For more information see the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation website.
It should be noted that this is based on a small sample, as SIMD details were not available for 43 per cent of survey respondents.
Local Delivery is a free Social Security Scotland service available across Scotland. Local delivery staff can provide in-person support with an application, or answer any questions about the application process.
Please see the Adult Disability Payment: high level statistics report for more detail on the ADP application process.
Social Security Scotland has recently begun sending applicants an SMS text message when their application is received and at key points as it moves through the decision-making process. However, this service began after the clients and formal representatives who took part in research had applied and none had experienced it.
Social Security Scotland. Relevant considerations when making a determination for an award review. Accessed on 13 June 2024.
As noted above, these interviewees were likely affected by a change in regulations, an issue which has now been addressed.
