Children Harmed by Alcohol Toolkit

This 3-hour interactive workshop is ideal for anyone working with children and families and looking to use the C.H.A.T. resource pack (which can be purchased separately).

The resource pack has been piloted and evaluated in Scotland with the session focusing on the key themes of CHAT and how they relate to supporting children, young people and families affected by alcohol harm or in recovery.  Ideal for practitioners from social work, treatment services and family support services.

Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Aware: Bespoke Training 

CSE aware offer tailored training relevant to the needs of your organisation or team. Sessions can be online or face to face and includes:

  • Introduction to CSE
  • Making the links: CSE and violence against women
  • Connections between CSE and women’s needs (housing, mental health, sexual health, etc)
  • Facilitating disclosures: CSE and routine enquiry
  • Support needs: working with women in CSE
  • Trauma-informed practice and women in CSE
  • Money and power: the 'sex industry' and women's safety
  • Blurred lines: the role of CSE in creating a conducive culture

CRAFT Training

CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) is an evidence-based, non-judgemental programme for practitioners to use with family members and carers affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use. CRAFT helps family members to communicate positively with their loved one, reduce their feelings of stress, improve feelings of self-worth and encourage their loved one to enter treatment.

Facilitating a Support Group 

Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs’ (SFAD) ‘Facilitating a Support Group’ training helps explore the skills and knowledge practitioners need to effectively lead a support group. It will touch on some of the core things involved in running a group, including how to structure and manage a group.

Introduction to Supporting Families 

Introduction to Supporting Families course focuses on learning the unique needs and experiences of family members and understand how empathy and listening skills are important to family support.

Woman to Woman: Advice From E
xperience

Exchange Supplies have started the project with two films made by Hide and Seek Media, based on discussions between Claire of Simon Community in Scotland and Jane from Exchange Supplies. In these video resources Jane shares her experience of injecting, and talks about needle selection and the long term health problems she has experienced as a result of injecting into her femoral vein.
