Data we collect
The data collected and processed by the Scottish Government will be on young people in receipt of EMA. The majority of the data on young people is initially received by the local authority or college from young people when registering for the entitlement.
Although colleges and local authorities require further information about the young people in receipt of EMAs it is responsible for supporting, not all of this information will be shared with the Scottish Government. For example, the Scottish Government will not receive contact details for young people.
The information on young people in receipt of EMA that will be shared with, and processed by, the Scottish Government entails:
- Name
- Date of birth / Age
- Home postcode (for deprivation analysis)
- Scottish Candidate Number / SQA Number
- Household Income
- Gender
- Category (school, college, activity agreement)
- Institution
- Mode of attendance (part-time or full-time)
- Number of weeks EMA received
