Advice and Eligibility
Feedback
People asked us to include groups of workers, specifically women, ethnic minorities, trade unions and those with lived experience of Long Covid and asbestos-related diseases in our new group on Employment Injury Assistance.
Organisations said we need to think about setting up a Scottish version of the UK Industrial Injuries Advisory Council in Scotland.
Organisations said the eligibility criteria was out of date.
Scottish Government Response
We have listened to people and have taken these into account in setting up our new stakeholder group.
The group’s membership will include experts and groups who support people with industrial injuries.
The membership and minutes will be available on the Scottish Government website after its first meeting.
More detailed consultation on how we deliver a new benefit called Employment Injury Assistance will be done in the future.
We will consider a replacement to the UK Industrial Injuries Advisory Council.
We know that there are a number of conditions that people want the Scottish Government to include as industrial injuries or diseases.
When thinking about changes, we need to consider the challenges with the current benefit and be value for money.
