Programme | Expectation | Indicative budget |
---|---|---|
People and Communities Fund (PCF) | PCF supports robust community anchor organisations to grow and strengthen by delivering outcomes to meet and respond to the needs and aspirations of their local communities. 2016-17 is a transitional year as we review alignment of PCF with other funding bodies such as the BIG Lottery, which launched a similar fund in November 2015. | £10.755m |
Strengthening Communities Programme (SCP) | To support a mix of continuing and new proposals (currently 86 in total) enabling communities that will be able to realise significant economic, social and environmental opportunities. It will also deliver a pipeline of organisations with their capacity enhanced and ready to advance on to more ambitious initiatives. Overseen by a Programme Board of external stakeholders, and chaired by the Scottish Government. | £2.5m |
The Community Choices Fund | Support for Participatory Budgeting (PB). £1.5 million of the Community Choices Fund opened for applications on 20 June in two categories of £750,000 each. Category one is open to Public Authorities, which includes Local Authorities and other Public Bodies. Category two is open to Community Organisations and Community Councils. The fund will support PB activity which will significantly expand opportunities for more local people to make decisions on local spending priorities and contribute to local democracy. | £2m |
ESF tackling poverty strategic intervention | A new partnership community-led intervention with Highlands and Islands Enterprise, subject to approval of the managing authority given the changing policy landscape. Expected to require sensitive stakeholder engagement. Potential pan-Scotland match funding of £2.12m from ESF plus £0.544m from HIE in 2016/17. | £2.4m |
Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) | To support the work of the Trust in our ex-coalfield communities. | £0.75m |
Community Ownership Support Service (COSS) | To support community groups who want to take advantage of the new powers on asset transfer in the Community Empowerment Act. | £0.35m |
Charrettes and other planning activity | To continue the community charrette programme, and potential community empowerment and place standard project | £0.3m |

Link Up | Contribution to overall funding package to support Inspiring Scotland to increase opportunities for people in communities to come together, get to know different people, participate and help each other. Other funders are Community Safety and Public Health colleagues. | £0.17m |
Skills and Learning Exchange | To provide community groups with access to funds to visit and learn from their peers. | £0.1m |
Supports improvement of practice in establishing, supporting and developing community groups | We are in the early stages of exploring how this relatively small amount of money could help spread good practice in community development. | £0.085m |
Men's Sheds | To provide support for the new Scottish Men's Shed's Association to allow them to promote and grow the men's sheds movement in Scotland. | £0.075m |
Access to Elected Office Fund | Fund to support disabled people who are standing for election. | £0.2m |
Sistema Scotland | Further support to Sistema Scotland, part of a wider £0.415m package. Uses participation in its Big Noise orchestra programmes to change lives by fostering confidence, discipline, teamwork, pride and aspiration in the children and young people taking part. | £0.09m |
