Energy Statistics for Scotland - Q1 2024

Annual fuel consumption for road vehicles in Scotland is based on road traffic estimates. In 2021 there was a systemic change in how traffic flow on major roads was calculated which resulted in a revision to historic fuel consumption figures. The latest fuel consumption figures for road vehicles in Scotland (figure 6) show that total fuel consumption in 2022 rose by 6% from 2021. Road vehicle consumption of petrol and diesel has now returned to pre-covid levels.
