Introduction
The Scottish Government would like to invite those already working in the entrepreneurial education space, and those who currently do not, to provide detailed proposals for consideration in regard to the fund details set out in these guidelines.
Background
The National Strategy for Economic Transformation (March 2022) sets out a number of recommendations to establish Scotland as a world-class entrepreneurial nation founded on a culture that encourages, promotes and celebrates entrepreneurial activity.
The following reports also set out our priorities:
- Pathways: A new approach for women in entrepreneurship (February 2023)
- The Entrepreneurial Campus: The higher education sector as a driving force for the entrepreneurial ecosystem (June 2023) also set out the importance of entrepreneurial education for young people in achieving our aims to make Scotland one of the best countries in the world to start and grow a business
This fund is for projects seeking to deliver on the actions of these reports that relate to the delivery of programmes for school-age children. Programmes to not need to take place in a school setting but should be aimed at young people aged 18 and younger.
This includes but is not limited to:
- promoting the best available project-based entrepreneurial learning across the school curricula
- delivery of experiential entrepreneurial learning to school age young people
- building new partnership between business and our education system
- offering a network of relationships with high-quality start-ups and entrepreneurs providing inspirational role models and mentors
The fund will support projects of £30,000 to £250,000 although projects above this may be considered on an exceptional basis. Projects will be expected to start from September 2024 onwards and funding must be claimed by March 2025.
Any funding granted will not be applicable for costs occurred prior to the award.
