Why we have this fund

Warning

This fund closed to applications on 9 September 2024.

For Scotland to be a successful entrepreneurial country we must recognise the importance of harnessing entrepreneurial ambition. Our entrepreneurs and innovators of tomorrow are in our classrooms today and supporting them is key to realising our ambitions.

Entrepreneurial education can equip our children and young people with the skills and mindset needed to succeed in work and in life. It can encourage problem solving, critical thinking and risk-taking. It can instil confidence and resilience and it can build responsibility and leadership.

The Scottish Government wants every young person to have the opportunity to experience entrepreneurial learning. We want our young people to learn through the best project-based entrepreneurial learning and exposed to first-rate start-up techniques and experiences.

This fund supports our work to implement the actions of NSET and Pathways (see overview page) in the area of entrepreneurial education.
