The Funeral Expense Assistance (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2024
Summary of aims and desired outcomes of Policy:
Funeral Support Payment provides a one-off payment to eligible bereaved people on a low income at a time when they need it most. FSP is intended to help alleviate the burden of debt clients may face when paying for a funeral and help to reduce funeral poverty.
These regulations will introduce a number of changes which are intended to:
- Make Funeral Support Payment more equitable
- Future proof regulations
- Ensure regulations meet policy intent to help support bereaved clients
