Social work - Practice Learning Support Grant: equality impact assessment
Equality impact assessment relating to the introduction of the Practice Learning Support Grant for eligible social work students with practice learning placements in-year. It assesses the impact of the proposed grant for groups with protected characteristics.
Monitoring and review of the PLSG
- Monitoring will be undertaken throughout academic year 2024–2025:
- quarterly reports from SSSC showing take-up of the PLSG and percentage of students with award processed by SSSC within 15 days of verification
- placement cohort surveys of university practice learning contacts, practice learning providers and eligible students about their experience of using the system and how they perceive the effectiveness of the grant value
- OCSWA will continue to engage with relevant stakeholders including: SSSC; Social Work Education Partnership[17] (including student union and university representatives); and Scottish Government Higher Education Student Support colleagues
- Updating student cohort data, with any additional verified data which becomes available
- Exploring opportunities for further data capture from SSSC registration system
- Considering opportunities to seek representative data on and feedback from protected groups within PLSG cohort
