Equally Safe in Colleges and Universities Core Leadership Group - strategic plan: April 2022 to March 2024
A two-year strategic plan for the Equally Safe in Colleges and Universities Core Leadership Group, covering the academic years 2022/23 and 2023/24.
Definitions and philosophical underpinnings
This plan seeks to address all forms of abuse and is informed by the definition of gender-based violence (GBV) as set out and agreed by the Equally Safe in Colleges and Universities Ministerial Working Group in April 2019.
A philosophy of primary prevention underpins the plan as does the importance of alignment between it and ongoing service provision. The plan is also informed by existing investments and the previous work of the Equally Safe in Colleges and Universities Ministerial Working Group (December 2017 to March 2020) and by evaluation and research evidence.
The strategic plan and associated operating plans should be underpinned by an intersectional perspective and will be fully inclusive of minority communities in the development and delivery of work, recognising that the LGBTQ+ community, women of colour and women with disabilities are disproportionately likely to experience GBV.
The plan will continue to be informed by the principle of collaboration, which has, hitherto, informed the work of the previous Ministerial Working Group.
