Fair Work First guidance for organisations seeking and awarding public sector grants, contracts and other funding – applies to grants awarded on or after 1 July 2023 and eligible agriculture grants awarded on or after 1 April 2024.
Errata
An errata was made to this document on the 20/02/2024.
Please note that Annex A contains an error in relation to the text underneath the ‘Local Government’ box. The text should read as follows:
‘RLW and EV conditionality do not apply to the local government general revenue grant; however local authorities are committed to progressing shared Fair Work priorities for their workforce and will continue to consider how these can best be progressed with local partners.’
The diagram will be corrected in the forthcoming updated guidance.

On 08/12/23 new supporting documents were published:

- A template for organisations to request an exception to the real Living Wage condition
- A template for local authorities to request an exception to the real Living Wage condition for Scottish Government grants
Please note that the updates outlined in the new supporting guidance will shortly be reflected in the Fair Work First Guidance document. In the meantime, please refer to the supporting documents when considering the scope of the application of the real Living Wage condition to UK-based staff and workers and limited exceptions to the real Living Wage condition.
